A lonely elderly woman begins receiving daily deliveries from a stranger—until she discovers the delivery man is the son she lost years ago.

Emma, a poor and lonely elderly woman, started receiving daily deliveries from an unknown source. She and her late husband had never had children—or at least, that’s what everyone thought—so she had no idea who could be sending her these mysterious packages.
When John Richards, Emma’s husband, passed away seven years ago, she was devastated. From then on, she had to live the rest of her life alone, taking care of herself with no one else to rely on.

Whenever someone asked her why they didn’t have children, Emma would simply shrug and change the subject, avoiding the question.
One day, while watching television in her room, the doorbell rang. She wasn’t expecting anyone, so she curiously went to check.
Opening the door, she found a masked delivery man in his forties carrying several boxes. She couldn’t clearly see his face.
“Hello. I wasn’t expecting any packages. May I ask who sent these?” Emma inquired.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but these packages were sent anonymously. You can rest assured—our security team inspected them, and they’re completely safe. They’re for you,” he replied, setting the boxes by the door.
“That’s strange… thank you, young man,” Emma said, closing the door.
Once he left, Emma eagerly opened the boxes, curious about their contents. In the first box, she found small kitchen appliances—a new toaster, a sandwich press, and a coffee maker.
“Who would send me all this?” she muttered. She opened the second box and found beautiful clothes and groceries.
From that day on, Emma started receiving new packages every single day. It was always the same delivery man, so she decided to talk to him.
“What’s your name, dear?” she asked.
“My name is Ted Harrison,” the delivery man smiled. “Mrs. Richards, the sender asked me to give you this as well,” he added, handing her an envelope. “I’ll wait while you read it.”
Curious, Emma opened the note and read it quickly. It said: Mrs. Richards, please tell me what you need, and I’ll make sure you get it.
“Oh my goodness! Whoever this is even wants me to make requests now!” she exclaimed.
“I’m sure the sender cares for you very much, even if they’re keeping their identity a secret,” Ted replied.
Emma wrote a modest list, asking only for basic necessities—she didn’t want to be a burden. And so, the deliveries continued.
From then on, Emma began preparing small snacks for Ted as a thank-you. For an entire month, he visited her every day with boxes full of clothes, food, books, and other useful items.
She got used to his company. Ted would stay for a while, eat with her, and help with chores she couldn’t manage alone.
Then one day, Ted didn’t come.
Worried, Emma went to the local post office to look for him.
“Hi, could you call Ted Harrison? I just brought him some donuts,” she asked the young receptionist.
The woman looked puzzled. “I’m sorry, ma’am. There’s no one named Ted Harrison working here.”
“Oh… but he’s been delivering my packages every day. That’s odd,” Emma replied, suddenly disheartened. She didn’t know where to find him, and that made her uneasy.
Back at home, her mind was racing with questions. Who was this kind stranger? Had she gone to the wrong post office? Was Ted pretending to be a delivery man?
When she reached her porch, she was surprised to find a small box waiting by the door. Inside, she found a house key and a letter that read:
I found out the truth just a month ago, when I hired a private investigator to trace my origins. I know you feel guilty and regret what happened. But I want you to know—I don’t blame you. I understand that you were only trying to do what was best for me.
You and your husband couldn’t afford to raise me, so you gave me up for adoption. I ended up with a wealthy family who raised me as their own, but something was always missing. I realized that what I was missing… was you, Mom.
I’ve missed you all my life, and I would love to spend more time with you. If you’d like, I recently bought a new house. Here is a copy of the key in case you want to move in with me. Please let me take care of you. With love, your delivery man, Ted.
Emma was shaking by the time she finished reading the letter. She had always hoped to see her son again before she died—but she never imagined he’d be the one to find her. And he turned out to be Ted, the kind delivery man.
Everything Ted had written was true. Emma and John were on the verge of bankruptcy when they found out she was pregnant. Knowing they couldn’t raise a child properly, they made the heartbreaking decision to put Ted up for adoption.
They left him at an orphanage when he was just a few months old. Along with his things, Emma left an anonymous letter explaining their decision. Years later, Ted convinced the orphanage staff to give him access to the adoption files—where he found Emma’s name.
Emma wanted to find Ted immediately. She was getting ready to leave when someone knocked on the door. When she opened it, there he was.
“Hi, Mom,” Ted said softly.
Emma burst into tears. “I can’t believe it… my son,” she sobbed as she hugged him tightly. “I’m so sorry, son. Please forgive me.”
“You don’t need to apologize, Mom. I’m here because I want to spend time with you. It’s not too late to start over. We can still be a family,” Ted said, breaking the long embrace.
That night, Emma and Ted packed her belongings into boxes. A truck was waiting outside to take them to Ted’s new home.
When they arrived, Emma was surprised to meet Ted’s wife and children. They were just as excited to welcome her into their home—and from that moment on, Emma never had to be alone again.
What can we learn from this story?
The past doesn’t have to define the future. Emma thought she would never see her son again—until he searched for the truth and found his biological mother. They moved in together and started a new life.
Forgiveness is a beautiful thing. Instead of holding resentment, Ted chose to forgive—and through that forgiveness, he was able to build a relationship and reunite a family.
